WASHINGTON, DC -
Today, Congressman Mike Michaud announced that Breakneck Mountain Sno-Riders,
Inc in Calais
will receive a $65,000 Rural Business Enterprise Grant (RBEG) from the United
States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The funding, which is administered by
USDA's Rural Development program, will be used to assist in the purchase of a
snowmobile trailgroomer.
"Snowmobiling is one of the many exciting activities that Mainers and visitors alike enjoy throughout the winter," Michaud said. "This grant should help boost tourism and help small businesses in Washington County. According to the USDA, this funding will save five jobs and assist seven Maine businesses." The Rural Business Enterprise Grants (RBEG) program provides funding for rural projects that finance and facilitate development of small and emerging rural businesses. It also funds distance learning networks and employment related adult education programs. # # # |
