WASHINGTON, DC -
Today, Congressman Mike Michaud announced that two organizations in Maine will receive Rural
Business Enterprise Grants (RBEG) from the United States Department of
Agriculture (USDA). The Pleasant Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club in Caswell will
receive a grant of $80,000, and the Eastern Maine Snow Riders, Inc. in Macwahoc
will receive a continuation grant of $19,245. The funding, which is administered by USDA's
Rural Development program, will be used by both organizations to purchase a
snowmobile trail groomer.
"Snowmobiling is one of the many exciting activities that Mainers and visitors alike enjoy throughout the winter," Michaud said. "These two grants should help boost tourism and help Mainers continue to enjoy one of our treasured pastimes." The Rural Business Enterprise Grants (RBEG) program provides funding for rural projects that finance and facilitate development of small and emerging rural businesses. It also funds distance learning networks and employment related adult education programs. # # # |
