Michaud Announces $280,700 in Funding for Research at the University of Maine

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Mike Michaud announced that the U.S Department of Health and Human Services awarded the University of Maine in Orono $280,700 for research.  The grant, which is administered by National Institute of General Medical Sciences, will be used by the University of Maine for the investigation into the functional role of Zebrafish TLR proteins.

"I am pleased that the Department of Health and Human Services released this funding.  The University of Maine continues to be a national leader in innovative projects," said Michaud.  "This grant will enable UMaine to continue their cutting edge research."

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences supports research that increases understanding of life processes and lays the foundation for advances in disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Their investigations focus on pharmacology, physiology and biological chemistry research.
