Michaud Announces Major Funding for Jackson Laboratory

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Michaud announced that Jackson Laboratories in Bar Harbor will receive two grants from the National Institute of Health to advance their research in two important medical fields. The laboratories will receive $234,900 from the National Cancer Institute, and a continuation grant of $363,343 from the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development for research.

"Jackson Laboratories is at the forefront of medical research in our country today," Michaud said. "These federal grants will help Jackson Labs continue their work to discover cures for diseases that afflict millions of people in Maine and across our country.  As always, I continue to support their efforts as they bring cutting edge research technologies and high demand jobs to Maine."

The National Cancer Institute and the Division of Cancer Biology works to encourage continuity and stability in basic cancer research while encouraging and facilitating the emergence of new ideas, concepts, technologies and possibilities. The National Institute for Child Health and Human Development investigates the broad aspects of human development as a means of understanding developmental disabilities.
